La Coupe d'Europe des vainqueurs de coupe ou Coupe des coupes, disparue en 1999-2000 à cause de l'hégémonie de la Ligue des Champions, réunissait les vainqueurs des Coupes de chaque pays européen.

Il s'agissait d'une compétition à élimination directe en match aller-retour. Aujourd'hui, les grands clubs ne veulent plus de ce genre de couperet et préfèrent jouer des matchs de poule à répétition, plus sûrs et plus rentables.

(Remarques:

Aucun club n'a remporté deux fois consécutivement ce trophée, pourtant les tentatives ont été nombreuses, notamment le Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, vainqueur en 1996 contre le Rapid de Vienne et finaliste malheureux la saison suivante contre le FC Barcelone. Mais surtout le RSC Anderlecht, vainqueur en 1976 et 1978 et finaliste en 1977.
L'espagnol Francisco José Carrasco a remporté la C2 à 3 reprises avec Barcelone, en 1979, 1982 et 1989.
Le seul sud-américain à avoir remporté 2 fois l'épreuve est l'uruguayen Gustavo Poyet, en 1995 (Saragosse) et 1998 (Chelsea).)
